Atomia releases free DNS management software with fully automated DNSSEC support
VÄSTERÅS, Sweden, February 20, 2012 – Atomia AB, the company behind Atomia Cloud Hosting Platform, has announced today that Atomia DNS has been released under the ISC open source license.
“This is a very exciting day for us; we have always admired successful open source projects. Over the years, we have contributed with code and knowledge to several projects of the kind and today we feel that we have the opportunity to spread the buzz of our great products and give something exciting back to the open source community.” said Daniel Jarpinger, executive vice president of Atomia.
Atomia DNS is a powerful tool for managing DNS zones; it eliminates the need for manual work and has fully automated DNSSEC support out of the box. It is easy to use for administrators and programmatically. Atomia DNS comes with a powerful and simple to use API that makes it easy to integrate with any system. The DNS management software is today used by several large Internet Service Providers.
“Atomia DNS gives you full control over your name servers; it also comes with DNSSEC support out of the box. With modest resources you will be able to sign and manage a significant number of zones – and it scales easily. Atomia DNS was earlier exclusive to the clients of Atomia Cloud Hosting Platform and is proven to work in big production environments. It’s capabilities to handle DNSSEC were battle-tested in late December last year – with excellent results.” said Jimmy Bergman, Chief Architect at Atomia.
Atomia DNS is released under the ISC license which is easy to understand and without unnecessary restrictions.
“The mantra for this project was No string attached. We wanted a model where everyone could download and start using the product. We also wanted it to be easy to contribute to the project and to build your own custom implementations. No matter if you host your own DNS server in the garage or if you work for an international Internet Service Provider you can use Atomia DNS. We understand that support might be critical to some users and thanks to the existing support organization at Atomia, we will be able to provide premium support to those who want it” said Daniel Jarpinger.
More information about the project can be found at the project website www.atomiadns.com, and the source code is available at GitHub.
