Development

Hyper-V guests in different time zones

Recently we noticed a problem that our Hyper-V guests did not seem to accept leases from the DHCP server. We are using the OpenStack network component to distribute DHCP addresses, which are leased for very short periods of time. Further investigation revealed that the problem is connected with the system time of the instance during boot.

The next release of Atomia VPS Manager will allow users to add more CPU and RAM to an existing VPS instance with just a few clicks. With this improvement, end users are getting the ability to easily scale-up their VPS instances as their demands for resources grow.

Release notes: Oct. 2011

We are happy to announce that the October release of Atomia is the fastest and most responsive Atomia release so far. The performance improvements are the direct result of our ongoing performance project.

Three changes that have proven to have a significant impact on the performance are:

  • Execution context/caching of identity tokens implementation and usage
  • Improved provisioning of DNS preview zones
  • HCP updates with improved listing services

Diablo means a new version of Atomia VPS Manager

The Q3 release of OpenStack, aka Diablo, introduced some long-awaited features (full release notes). This means that a new version of Atomia VPS Manager is to be expected.

So what will come in the next release of Atomia VPS Manager?

  • Start and stop of existing instances
  • Change instance type (resize instance)
  • Several minor improvements

There are also some really cool VPS features in the pipeline for future releases that will be announced in the near future.
