On June 16, we’ll be releasing the next version of the Atomia cloud hosting platform. Progress has been stellar. Our product development team is currently right in the middle of QA testing to make sure the release is rock solid.
A few of us from Atomia are going to be in Miami for HostingCon 2014, which takes place June 16–18. It’s going to be an awesome time, and we look forward to meeting a bunch of our peers from the hosting industry. HostingCon has always been a great event. We suspect this year will be no different.
Akamai came out with a new State of the Internet report this week. It covers a lot, but one of the more interesting parts is a breakdown of connection speeds measured across its vast content delivery network (CDN), giving us some good insights into actual real-world connection speeds experienced by internet users around the world.
We’re based in Sweden, so we thought it would be interesting to examine the numbers for Europe (where we do most of our business) and make some nice charts to help visualize the data and compare the countries with each other. Numbers are all well and good, but we love charts.

Last week, World Hosting Days came and went in a whirlwind. Three intense days of socializing, making deals, and meeting both old and new friends from our industry. No way we’d miss this. WHD.global is the largest web hosting industry event in Europe, and for us, this year’s was the most successful ever.
April 1–4, we’ll be in Germany at Europe’s largest web hosting conference, World Hosting Days. We’re looking forward to meeting a ton of people from the industry we love, so please don’t hesitate to come by our booth and have a chat.

Twenty years ago, most people hadn’t even heard of the internet. Today the situation is a tad bit different. The most recent number we could find for how many users there are on the internet is 2.48 billion, but that was in 2012.
As if that wasn’t enough, based on how the internet has grown historically it is very likely that it will pass 3 billion users in 2014.
As you may remember, a while ago we made Atomia DNS free and open source. It’s our battle-tested DNS management software, in use at several large web hosting companies and telecoms.
We launched the Atomia Cloud Hosting Platform in 2009 with the goal to provide a complete, flexible solution for powering a wide range of cloud and web hosting services. Coming from the hosting industry ourselves, we wanted to create our own dream platform.
Since then, a number of cool, interesting companies have embraced Atomia. Our software now powers a significant portion of the Scandinavian web hosting market, and we’re gaining popularity in the rest of Europe as well.
Today we are proud to announce the availability of a new supported release of our platform on our stable branch. The release is named 14.1, and represent a large number of changes since the last stable release in April 2013.
