OpenStack Mitaka arrived last week, the 13th release of the increasingly popular open source software for creating private and public clouds. Atomia uses OpenStack for our various cloud hosting features, such as VPS hosting, cloud storage, and what we call virtual data centers (where our customers can sell OpenStack tenants). That, and our billing system’s OpenStack integration is second to none.
This blog post will give you an overview of how Atomia’s software lets you automate billing, customer management and provisioning for OpenStack, turning it into a complete solution for selling cloud hosting. We will also list some of the other business benefits you get by using Atomia.
A couple of months ago, we launched Atomia.cloud, a site dedicated completely to Atomia’s cloud hosting software and our integration with OpenStack, a popular open source software for creating public and private clouds. We still have Atomia.com as the main site for our whole suite of hosting software, but it’s been interesting to see what a focused effort on one specific part of Atomia could accomplish.

OpenStack Kilo is the 11th release of OpenStack, the powerful open source cloud software that we leverage for Atomia’s cloud hosting features. Among other things, our software platform adds billing and hosting automation to OpenStack, making it possible to effectively sell OpenStack-based public cloud services such as VPS and online storage.
You can run Atomia on your own infrastructure, but you may remember that we recently partnered with Canonical to give you the option to also have a fully managed OpenStack cloud to run your hosting business on. It can be a very convenient alternative for many companies.
